Bryan started judo when he was 9 years old, in 2010.  He has been a member of Taishi since July 2013.  He was one of the youngest Refs to be certified as a Regional referee 2 years ago.  Since his certification, he has been a referee at Winter Nationals, San Jose Buddhist Tournament, and the many local tournaments in Southern, Central and Northern California.  Last year he was chosen as the 2015 outstanding Junior Referee at the Nanka banquet.

In 2016, Bryan was the Juvenile B team member on the Nanka Junior National team at Summer Nationals in Irvine.  He medaled at numerous tournaments all over California including San Jose Buddhist Sensei Memorial, and the USJF Summer Nationals in Irvine. Bryan and his partner Conor Uyekawa took 1st place in Nage No kata, at the Fukuda International Kata Tournament in San Francisco; later that year they were certified in Katame No Kata.  They continue to work and develop their Kata.   Most recently they have also competed in Ju No Kata at the Nanka Spring Shiai.

Bryan continues to work hard and has shown a lot of growth in his judo.   His well-rounded approach to judo will assist him in the pursuit of his ultimate judo goals.
