About    Taishi Judo Club

Taishi Judo Club was officially started in March 2011 under the leadership and guidance of Sensei Robert Oishi.  The word Taishi means high ambition, which all of our members share and work collectively to embody.  Taishi Judo Club arose from a group of judokas and families that believed in the sport of judo, and the senseis that had guided them up to that point.  We teach the fundamentals of judo with trust, honor, and integrity.

With strong visions on how judo should be taught and developed, and faith and respect in each other, Taishi Judo Club was formed.  We are truly a family - working together, building together, and believing in one another.  We devote much of our lives to the love of judo and our love for the kids.  We are all fortunate to have now found a club that supports and appreciates the dedication that it was built upon.

Taishi Judo Club thrives on the concept of mutual benefit and welfare for all.  Our families support all of our members - not only their own children.  Our senseis support each other and learn from each other's strengths.  We fundraise for groups of competitors, knowing that their support will be reciprocated somewhere down the line.  We socialize at numerous different functions as a family, appreciating each of our members for all that they do.  Our parents are those who spend their Sunday afternoons helping other clubs at their tournaments and our judokas are those refereeing before they compete.  We are all individuals, but we recognize that we are also a part of larger organizations, working to make the sport of judo better for all.

Our mission is to provide competent instruction in the techniques and philosophies of judo while maintaining a safe, respectful, and friendly environment.  We currently have 11 yudansha with strong judo backgrounds, and a great group of students who love our sport.  One of our main goals is to encourage judokas to embrace all that judo has to offer, at every level of the sport.  Through creating opportunities to train and compete, and preparing for their next stages of competition, we believe that we are building strong judoka that will help pave the way for the future of judo.
